The Old Barn

Stunning views of the surrounding Chiltern Hills beyond this garden meant that the boundary planting had to remain open and low, so height was added to the centre of the garden with a long timber pergola over-planted with an avenue of Wisteria.  The path beneath the pergola leads from the driveway up broad steps to the main garden.

A wide `L' shaped south and west facing paved stone terrace laid in front of the barn and to the side of its adjoining annexe provide ample, sheltered dining and lounging space.  Accented by an elegant wrought iron pavillion entwined with scented climbing roses, a further circular seating area set in the centre of a circular lawn offers stunning views across the garden to the surrounding countryside.  Raised beds on the shadier east side of the garden overlooked from the windows of the barn, are densely planted with lush ferns and evergreen shrubs to give all year round interest.
